We have the honor to acknowledge receipt of a letter from the Chartered Mercantile Bank of India, London & China, Hongkong, dated 22nd March, 1876, intimating for the information of the Government that they are, by the present mail, requesting the Chief Manager of this Bank in London to apply to the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury, for permission to issue Notes of the value of One Dollar each, in the Colony of Hongkong.
